On September 11th, 2026, the official opening of the Nanyang Volunteer Drivers & Mechanics Memorial Park and the launching and handing over of the book ‘Sarawak Under the Japanese Occupation 1941-1945’ was held at the Kuching South City Council. Consul General H.E. Mr. Xing Weiping, Deputy Premier & Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak, Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian and Mayor of Kuching South Dato Wee Hong Seng attended the event and delivered remarks. Representatives from all walks of life in Sarawak, family members of the Nanyang volunteer drivers & mechanics, the Chinese community and China’s enterprises were also present.
