On 29 January 2026, the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Kuching hosted the 2026 Spring Festival Reception. More than 600 guests attended the event, including Deputy Premier, Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Sarawak, Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian as well as other senior officials, political leaders, friends from various sectors, foreign Consul-Generals to Kuching, overseas Chinese, representatives of Chinese enterprises and international students in Sarawark.
