From December 19 to 20, 2024, the first Malaysia (Sarawak) – China Cooperation Forum and Friendship Cities Roundtable Meeting was held in Kuching. About 300 representatives including Sarawak's friendship provincial and municipal governments in China like Yunnan, Chinese enterprises as well as people from politic and business fields of Sarawak participated.

Consul General Mr. Xing Weiping, along with Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Deputy Minister in the Premier's Department Datuk Hajah Sharifah Hasidah binti Sayeed Aman Ghazali, President of China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia Mr. Ni Qingjiu and Mayor of Kuching South Dato Wee Hong Seng attended and delivered speeches.
