Ladies and gentlemen,
It is a great honor for me to attend the inaugural ceremony of the Memorial to the Sarawak Volunteers Mechanics. I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China, and in my own name, to express gratitude to all of the people who have contributed to the successful completion of the Memorial.
The Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, which happened 70 years ago, is an important part of the World Anti-Fascist War. It has made great contribution to the victory of the World War II, and the lasting peace of the world. The victory of the Chinese People’s War Against Japanese Aggression, can not be isolated from the sympathy and support of the countries and peoples of the world who love peace and justice. During the war, thousands of overseas Chinese from South East Asian countries, actively supported China’s efforts against the invasion. Some of them donated money and materials, some of them joined the fighting directly. Chinese government and people will remember their selfless contribution forever. To paying high tribute to all the veterans, patriots and officers who took part in the War of Resistance, and all the Chinese at home and abroad who contributed significantly to the victory of the War, last September, Chinese government held a Commemoration of The 70th Anniversary of The Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and The World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing. It has been widely welcomed by the the people who loved peace and justice in the world.
Dear Friends,
For supporting China’s war against Japanese aggression, since January of 1939 to May of 1942, over 3200 Volunteer Mechanics from South East Asian Countries, rushed to the battle field of the war. They overcome numerous difficulties and dangers, worked hard for transporting the military material to the front line, and made great contribution and sacrifice to the victory of the war against Japanese invasion. I would like, on behalf of the Consulate general of People’s Republic of China in Kuching, and in my own name, to express my heartfelt gratitude to them.
